Graeme has over 35 years experience in commercial and corporate law, insolvency and reconstruction and commercial litigation.

He has experience across many industry sectors, particularly manufacturing, distribution and services industries, in both the private and public sectors. Graeme's in-depth experience and knowledge has been applied to many complex commercial transactions, insolvencies and commercial disputes.

Some of Graeme's recent experience has included:

  • Acting on the commercialisation of new technology for the construction of modular housing including the establishment of commercial structures, manufacturing, consulting and licence agreements and consideration of intellectual property issues;
  • Acting on behalf of an overseas government body in a $60m professional negligence suit concerning the valuation of a brand;
  • Acting on the recovery of monies the subject of an international "ponzi" scheme, involving fraudulent transfers of monies in a number of jurisdictions; and
  • Acting on the liquidation of a tertiary educational body involving fraudulent business practices and misappropriation of monies diverted through overseas channels.

Graeme's greatest strength, according to his clients, is the ability to provide a commercial overview, including the identification of the risk and key issues at the outset. His extensive insolvency and commercial law experience allows him to review all types of businesses enabling him to advise as to the best business structure for any situation. Because of his experience in both front and back end work, he can act as a true business advisor.

With a career at Madgwicks spanning over 30 years, Graeme is viewed as a mentor to the lawyers in his areas of practice.

Graeme takes a keen interest in the development of business relationships internationally and is a key member of the regional committee that oversees the operation of the Meritas global law firm network in Australia and New Zealand.
