Marina has close to 20 years experience in general commercial and corporate work. As a Partner in Madgwicks’ commercial group, Marina brings extensive experience in providing general commercial advice to a broad client base.

Marina is recognised for her willingness and ability to foster longstanding client and referral relationships. Marina is committed to investing the time required to grow and travel with a client and its management team on the life cycle of the client’s business, from start up to disposal stage and beyond. In her role as a trusted advisor Marina has acted on many major business divestments and acquisitions for vendors and purchasers, managed and conducted complex legal due diligence projects and negotiated and prepared a diverse range of commercial agreements, including shareholder, management, partnership, joint venture, confidentiality and service agreements.

Additionally Marina provides advice on compliance, corporate governance, commercial contracts and business succession issues.

Some of Marina’s recent experience includes:

  • Acting for a New York Stock Exchange listed public financial services institution on the strategic acquisition of a financial services software development company with subsidiaries in several foreign jurisdictions, involving due diligence, extensive negotiation and documentation, and post purchase structuring for the Australian subsidiary;
  • Acting for an Australian steel distributor in negotiations with an overseas joint venture partner to manage and complete the purchase of a national competitor;
  • Advising a global education provider on the potential purchase of overseas schools in an insolvency context;
  • Acting for the purchaser in the acquisition of a renowned Australian licensed hotel and gaming venue;
  • Representing several European companies to establish a business presence in Australia and to form a joint venture with a local industry player; and
  • Analysis of the corporate structure of a high net worth individual having regard to succession issues.

Marina’s clients have included large and mid-cap sized private companies, public financial services institutions, accounting practices, other professional services firms, high net worth individuals as well as young entrepreneurs and family groups in Australia and overseas.
