Peter joined Madgwicks in 1973 and became a partner in the firm in 1975.

Over the past 35 years he has developed a leading practice in the areas of insolvency, corporate reconstruction, commercial advice and commercial litigation. He has acted on many major reconstructions and insolvencies including Pyramid Building Society, Henry Kaye Group of Companies and Blue Ribbon Abattoirs Ltd.

Peter’s expertise includes commercial advice and strategy, workouts and negotiation with government, banks and corporate borrowers.

Peter has developed and trained a team of expert commercial litigation solicitors who support him and enables Madgwicks to handle complex commercial litigation and corporate reconstructions.

Some of Peter's experience includes:

  • Acting for the liquidator of Pyramid Building Society including bringing an action against the directors and auditors, defending action brought by shareholders against the society and liquidator and bringing recoveries actions on behalf of the liquidator.
  • Acting for the liquidator of the Henry Kaye Group of Companies including arranging liquidation of the group companies, acting for the liquidator in ASIC proceedings and the recovery of property.
  • Overseeing the reconstruction of public company Blue Ribbon Abattoirs Ltd, which was in liquidation, and subsequently refloated as Australian Value Funds Management, now known as Prime Financial Group.

As Managing Partner, Peter sees one of his main roles is to guide all the firm's lawyers toward building their own practice and honing important client and network skills.

Additionally, Peter sits on the boards of both listed and unlisted companies, in the manufacturing, funds management and investment industries.
