Rick has over 20 years experience in corporate and commercial law. His particular areas of practice include capital raising, funds management, superannuation and business services.

Rick's clients include ASX listed public companies, trustee companies, responsible entities, industry super funds, IDPS operators, stockbrokers, fund managers, as well as family owned private businesses across a broad range of industries.

Some of Rick's recent experience includes:

  • Leading the ASX float of a large property trust specialising in aged care facilities and retirement villages. The float resulted in $100 million raised and gross assets at listing of over $1.2 billion;
  • Establishing a wholesale 'fund to fund' property fund for an ASX listed funds management business. Rick directed the design of the Fund and handled the constitution, product disclosure statement and other constituent documents;
  • Acting for a public offer industry superannuation fund with over 100,000 members and $1.2 billion funds under management on the acquisition of a superannuation administration business;
  • Acting for a subsidiary of ING Group to advise on and prepare a suite of documents relating to the establishment of self managed superannuation borrowing arrangements;
  • Acting for a large family owned manufacturing business on a complex succession restructure;  
  • Advising on the technology commercialisation for a co-operative joint venture of electricity companies;
  • Obtaining worldwide trade mark protection for an ASX listed clothing retailer;
  • Representing an Australian electronics company in defending trade mark infringement proceedings against Intel Corporation; and
  • Conducting compliance programs concerning trade practices legislation for several businesses including a retail cooperative and a packaging manufacturing business.

Rick's detailed approach to his clients' complex issues, typically in a highly regulated environment, ensures all avenues are investigated and the most appropriate solution is reached. The strategic risk management advice and compliance programs that Rick provides his clients are also particularly valued.

A partner since 2001, Rick's qualifications include Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Science and a Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law. Rick is an active member of the Australian Direct Property Investment Association and a member of The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia Limited.
