Rod has provided advice to a number of participants in the energy supply industry including retailers, distributors, generators and industry associations on a wide range of significant commercial matters. These include acquisitions, regulatory compliance, connection agreements, financing and development, power purchase agreements and ISDA contracts.

Coupled with Rod's extensive energy law experience, Rod has thorough knowledge of commercial regulatory and legislative issues, as well as having advised on contractual issues, business sales and acquisitions, trade practices compliance, financing issues, joint ventures, due diligence reviews and complex stamp duty issues.

Some of Rod's recent experience includes:

  • Advising one of Madgwicks' major energy clients on documentation, corporate and operational issues relating to the development and network connection of power stations in Western Australia, South Australia and New South Wales;
  • Documentation and negotiation of ISDA Master Agreements and Schedules for a multi-national electricity generator and retailer;
  • Providing corporate, construction law and regulations advice, negotiating and drawing finance, corporate and project contractual documentation for a major solar energy project;
  • Advising a food industry company on their $10 Million Purchase of Interests; Restructuring; Management Buy Out; Financing; Sale of Shares; and
  • Negotiating agreements in relation to extraction rights and transfer of licenses on behalf of a large listed manufacturing company.
